Introduction to the Science and Technology Award of China Steel Structure Association

In March 2007, with the approval of the Office of National Science and Technology Awards, the China Steel Structure Association (hereinafter referred to as the "Association") established the "Science and Technology Award of China Steel Structure Association" (National Science Award Society Certificate No. 0163), which is evaluated once a year. This award is established by the association to encourage enterprises, research institutes, colleges and universities in the steel structure industry, as well as various sectors of society to invest in science and technology in the steel structure field, enhance the overall scientific and technological level of the steel structure industry, and promote outstanding contributions of organizations and individuals in the scientific and technological progress of China's steel structure field.

Since 2007, the association has been conducting annual selection for the Science and Technology Award of the China Steel Structure Association. As an extension of the Science and Technology Award of the China Steel Structure Association, the selection of the Outstanding Talent Award for Steel Structures began in 2010 after being reviewed and approved by the third meeting of the fifth council of the association in October 2009; In November 2015, after deliberation and approval at the 7th Member Representative Conference of the Association, the selection process for the "Steel Structure Master of the China Steel Structure Association" began in 2016.

In accordance with the requirements of the Provisional Regulations on the Management of Social Organization Evaluation and Commendation Activities (State Evaluation Group [2012] No. 2), the Notice of the Ministry of Civil Affairs on Implementing the Provisional Regulations on the Management of Social Organization Evaluation and Commendation Activities (Minhan [2012] No. 125), and the Guiding Opinions of the Ministry of Science and Technology on Further Encouraging and Regulating the Establishment of Science and Technology Awards by Social Forces (State Science and Technology Award [2017] No. 196), in 2019, after two executive board meetings of the 7th and 8th sessions of the 7th sessions of the Association, the "China Steel Structure Association Science and Technology Award" was reviewed and approved, including the Science and Technology Award, Science and Technology Innovation Award, and Outstanding Talent Award (selected every two years). Proposal and related management system for five sub awards, including Steel Structure Master (selected every two years) and Innovation Talent Award. At present, the revised and improved "China Steel Structure Association Science and Technology Award Management Measures" and the management regulations for five sub awards have been filed with the National Science and Technology Award Work Office.

The award-winning projects of the China Steel Structure Association Science and Technology Award that meet the requirements for applying for national science and technology awards shall be nominated and recommended for application for national science and technology awards. Since 2014, the association has nominated multiple award-winning projects for the China Steel Structure Association Science and Technology Award to apply for the National Science and Technology Progress Award. At present, 6 projects have won awards in 4 years, including 2 first prizes and 4 second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.

Since the establishment of awards, the association has adhered to the principle of public welfare for all awards and has never charged any fees to the applying enterprises. All expenses for awards are borne by the association itself. The association adheres to the requirements of the National Science and Technology Award Work Office to do a good job in the Annual Work Report on Social Science and Technology Awards and third-party evaluation of social science and technology awards, and has achieved good social results, which has been highly recognized by the steel structure industry and relevant government departments.
